In New Jersey, a student becomes eligible for Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services) at age 14. During the school year a student turns 16, transition must be addressed.You must be invited to your IEP meeting to discuss this transition plan which will assist you as you move into adult life. It is required by law that your IEP includes transition goals and services. This transition plan will update goals and services each year until you graduate.

The transition plan you will develop must include long term and annual goals, services and activities to assist you in achieving your desired outcomes. In New Jersey, by the time you are in 11th grade or approaching 17 years old, you and your family must be informed how your rights will change when you officially become an adult at 18 years old. This transition plan will update goals and services each year until you graduate.
